(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, February 22 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will join Chief Gregory Dean, DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (DCFEMS), to highlight the success of reforms from the Bowser Administration which have added more firefighters to the department, improved fleet management, reduced response times for residents who call 911 and trained more District residents on the basics of hands-only CPR. The Mayor will also announce new proposed legislation that would require insurance companies to cover a larger share of emergency ambulance and pre-hospital medical services.
DCFEMS will also officially release the Integrated Healthcare Collaborative final report – an initiative that seeks to provide alternative and medically accountable pathways to care for the approximately 500 DC residents who dial 911 daily for non-emergency medical reasons.
