Mayor Bowser to Highlight 2nd Annual Cupid's Kids Initiative

Tuesday, February 13, 2018

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, February 14 at 10:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will highlight the District’s 2nd Annual Cupid’s Kids Initiative by delivering Valentine’s Day cards to homebound DC seniors receiving home-delivered meals. Each Valentine’s Day card was created by District of Columbia Public School (DCPS) students and local Girl Scout troops. Launched in 2017 by the District of Columbia Office on Aging, the Cupid’s Kids Initiative promotes intergenerational connections between DCPS students and homebound seniors as a step to help combat social isolation. This year, seniors receiving the Valentine’s Day cards will have the opportunity to write back to the students using note cards and postage-paid envelopes addressed to the schools, which are included with their Valentine’s Day card.
